While several Middle Eastern foods are commonly enjoyed throughout the vast region, the flavors and ingredients can vary significantly depending on your specific location. One particular dish might have originated long ago in a certain country and, over the years, found its way to neighboring countries, adapting its flavors to align with the unique tastes and ingredients specific to each locale. Although some of the delicious foods featured in the Iraq section of my blog are indeed enjoyed in various Middle Eastern countries, the flavors present in these recipes are authentically representative of the version my family cherished while living in Iraq. As always, I make a conscious effort to modify all of my recipes a little more toward health by reducing sugar, salt, and refined flour whenever possible, so that we can savor the food we love while also feeling good about our choices and overall well-being.
